Lastekaitse Liidu tervitus Soome kolleegidele

Head hõimuvelled,

Soome ja Eesti ajalugu ja kultuur Läänemere mõlemal kaldal on käinud aastatuhandeid sarnaseid radu, meil on palju ühiseid tavasid ja kombeid. Ka riikliku iseseisvuse saavutasime esmakordselt pea samaaegselt.

20. sajandi pöördelised sündmused katkestasid küll meie riikide ühise teekonna, kuid pool sajandit hiljem saame taas õnneks astuda sama rada. Oleme naabritena tänulikud, et möödunud sajandi keerulistel 90-ndatel aastatel ulatas Soome Eestile käe nii teadmiste, tarkuse kui ka ainelise abiga.

Põhjanaabrite toetust on palju tunda saanud ka Eestimaa lapsed. Tugev koostöö Soome Lastekaitse Liiduga näitas meile esmalt kätte suunad eesmärkide seadmiseks ja pakkus seejärel kogemust nende poole pürgimiseks. Nii on Soome Lastekaitse Liidu ja selle liikmesorganisatsioonide abil saanud paljud vaid kauge unistusena tundunud võimalustest ka Eesti igapäevaseks positiivseks reaalsuseks.

Tänasel Soome Vabariigi 100. sünnipäeval soovime teie riigile ja teile, head sõbrad, Soome Lastekaitse Keskliidust, rohkelt rõõmu ja kordaminekuid. Jätkugu teil ikka järjekindlust teha oma igapäevast tänuväärset tööd, et tagasi vaadates tunda uhkust oma riigi ja rahva üle!

Dear friends,

The history and culture of Finland and Estonia have walked similar paths on both sides of the Baltic Sea – we have many common customs and similar traditions. We also achieved our first national independence almost at the same time.

The turning points of the 20th century broke off the common journey of our countries, but half a century later, we were happy to take the same path once again. As neighbours, we are grateful that in the difficult 1990s Finland provided it help to Estonia with knowledge, wisdom and material assistance.

The support of the Northern neighbours has also been greatly appreciated by Estonian children. Strong co-operation with the Central Union for Child Welfare showed us first directions to set goals and then offered a valuable experience in pursuit of them. With the help of Central Union for Child Welfare and its member organizations, many of the possibilities that have seemed as far-away dreams, have become a positive reality in Estonia.

Today, Finland celebrates 100 years of independence. We wish a lot of joy and succeeding for your country and for you, our good friends from the Central Union for Child Welfare. We wish you to have the consistency of doing your much appreciated everyday work, so when you look back, you will be proud of your country and nation!
